BMW M3 and M4 have the same brake systems. BMW customers have a choice which brake system to install: Carbon-Ceramic or Iron cast. Today we will talk about Iron Cast M compound brake system.

M compound brakes have floating brake discs - iron cast brake rotor which connected by pins to aluminum brake cover. This brake disc design allows the rotor to expand when heated without any deformations. The dimensions of the front brake disc are 380x30mm. Such a big diameter supports brake pads with a big brake surface. Thin brake rotor makes weight lower. 4 piston calipers work on the front axle and 2 piston calipers - on the rear.

Overall BMW M3/M4 has perfect brake system but the main question is what brake pads to use. BMW has its own M brake pads with stable friction coefficient but not high and if you are newbie on the racetrack so probably that you will be satisfied with the brakes. If you are advanced driver on the racetrack you have to use more effective brake pads with higher friction coefficient.

We have tested and approved RaceTrack friction compound and we use it to create perfect brake pads for BMW M3/M4. It has wide temperature range that you can use on the racetrack and starts to stop some later than usual. Also, it has great stopping power. DC Brakes brake pads Race Track compound part number is DC1880M18. DC Brakes DC1880M18 can be installed on the OEM BMW M3/M4 front brake caliper without any modifications.

PLEASE NOTE you have to check the condition of your brake discs every maintenance of brake pads!
